1.) Paint Issues. They finally made a decision on the paint. Sherwin Williams is going to pay to have the problem areas repainted – which is a large majority of the house. They are going to call and arrange for three different painters to come out and go through the house. Each will submit a bid to Sherwin Williams, and they will average the three bids. That will determine the price Sherwin Williams is willing to pay , and from there we can pick between the three offers. The first guy came today, and we have the other two scheduled for Monday. I know it still may be awhile before everything is finished, and we can start moving more things in, but I'm just so relieved to finally be moving in some direction.
2.) Snack Fairy. I opened my cabinet one evening this week to find this. The "Snack Fairy" had brought us an entire bag full of treats. Maybe the Snack Fairy knew we needed a little pick-me-up after these long days of dealing with house stuff or maybe said-Snack Fairy has been asked to wait at the house for long hours this week to meet the cable guy, and the furnce crew and the Sears repair man, and is tired of having nothing to eat. Either way it was greatly appreciated – thanks Snack Fairy!

1.) BPD is closing early today because of Homecoming, so that means Nathan only has to work a half day. woo hoo!
2.) "Living" here. Lots of people have been asking if we've moved in yet or if we are living in our new house. My typical answer is, "Well, we are sleeping there." It still doesn't feel like we are actually "living here". They still have a good bit of touch up painting to do, so we haven't moved any more furniture in yet - the little furniture that we have that is. Since we have no furniture to sit on, we can never just relax in the evenings. We haven't even really been eating our meals here, because there is no where to sit and no table to set the food on. Sometimes I eat breakfast here, but that consists of me sitting on the kitchen floor with my bowl of cereal. I'm so tired of temporary "living".
3.) Paint issues. We are STILL having problems with the paint. Basically the spots where they try to go back and touch up the walls, the paint doesn't match. They were even still using the same buckets that they used the first time around. At first Sherwin Williams thought maybe they just weren't getting the buckets shook up well enough, so they had them brought in, put new lids on them, and shook them with the machine - that didn't help. Then they did a few rounds of trying to adjust the paint, at one point even cutting pieces out of the drywall and taking those in to shoot under the color match eye - that didn't work. Last night the regional sales manager, Hunter, for our area came out to the house and had us take him around and show him some of the problem areas. He definitely admitted that what we were seeing is not typical and that something should be done about it. He also kind of hinted that they've been having some problems with their paint that has a strong gold base - which all three of the problem paint colors do. The blue/gray paint doesn't seem to be a problem, but he still didn't seem convinced that was the problem. It feels like we've been dealing with this paint issue for over a month now, and this is the second time Sherwin Willams has come out to look at the paint. Hunter is supposed to talk to his manager tomorrow and see what they can do about the problem. I would REALLY like to feel like we were making some kind of progress...
4.) Furniture. Over the last few days, it has become very apparent that we are going to need couches for the family room sooner rather than later. Mom and I looked at some when we were in Columbus on Wednesday, and I found some at Pottery Barn that I really liked. But like everything at Pottery Barn, it was kind of expensive. Nathan and I went up to Wierser and Cawley today and found this set that we like pretty well. We're going to do some measuring and see what pieces we might want in that room.

1.) We are NOT moved in yet. I really thought we would be this weekend, but it just didn't work out. They are still having some issues with the paint. Basically when they go back and try to touch-up any spots on the wall, the paint doesn't match. They've been working with Sherwin Willams, but as of yet they haven't gotten anything worked out. We just didn't see any reason to move a bunch of stuff in if they still have painting to do around it. The good news is that touch up painting is just about the only thing left to do.
2.) Karen. I mentioned last week that DHD was getting a new designer. I am so excited to announce that Karen Funk's kits are now available at DHD. I've known Karen for awhile now, because before she was a designer she was actually a Decorator at DHD. She has released some amazing kits this week, and they are all on sale through Sunday, so be sure to check out her shop.

1.) Updates to the blog. We are still working on some of the little bugs with the blog. So if you come to the site and you see a July Archives to find anything that you may have missed.
2.) Carla. Last week, I posted about my new Pea friend, Carla, that I met last Saturday on the Photowalk. Her younger brother died this week, and she's been on my mind a lot this week. Please pray for her and her family as they are dealing with this loss.
3.) Evaporator. We ended up having to replace the evaporator in the jeep this week in order to get the A/C to work. It was just about a month ago that we had to pay to have some boot thing on the jeep replaced. The jeep has 160,000+ miles on it, so I guess we should expect repairs like this to come up, but recently they are starting to pile up. With all the house commitments, we just aren't ready to look for a new car, so we're just hoping that this will hold us over for awhile.
4.) Nathan's shoulder. Nathan shoulder is still pretty sore. The doctor said it could take 4-6 weeks to heal, but it doesn't really seem to be getting much better. His softball season is most definitely over.
5.) New designer. I found out this week that we are gettting a new designer at shop next Thursday for a new face and some awesome releases.

1.) Site maintenance. With the blog maintenance going on, I wasn't able to post regularly as we were testing things. We think we've got all of the bugs worked out, and I should be able to go back to posting daily. So in order to catch, up I had to do some mass updates. The blog home page only displays the last 5 entries, so most of the entries have scrolled off the page, but if you are a regular reader and want to catch up on things, make sure you check the archives:

There's a lot of pictures of the house progress, some new scrapbook pages, and a few photography sessions thrown in.
2.) Five on Friday Recap. As I go through my week, I make notes for my Five on Friday posts. Sometimes these are mental notes; sometimes I actually jot down little notes or even type up a blurb or two. Despite the fact that there hasn't been any Five on Friday posts on the blog lately, I've still been making notes. So instead of going back and post dating a bunch of stuff, I've decided to do a Five on Friday Bonus Edition. Basically, I'm just going to keep numbering until I've got all of my updates out of the way.
3.) Carpal tunnel. So I had my EMG testing last week, and as it turns out I do NOT have carpal tunnel. Not even close. The doctor said I have no signs of nerve damage. He doesn't really know why my fingers were tingly and painful for an entire month. He is guessing I may have had some type of nerve irritation for overworking it, but he said there was no permanent damage. When the tingling had gotten better the last few weeks, I just figured the wrist brace was working. I had been wearing it at night, when I was typing, and when I cross stitched or quilted anything, but he said he didn't think it was necessary at this point. Obviously, I had good reason to question "Veronica's" diagnosis.
4.) EMG. An EMG, which studies nerve conductions (by delivering electrical impulses to the nerves) and muscles (by inserting a needle probe into different muscles), is an uncomfortable procedure but a very useful and sensitive test for carpal tunnel syndrome.
Overall the EMG wasn't too bad. I was worried, because I had read so many things online about how painful it can be. It definitely hurt a little bit, but nothing too horrible.
5.) Car problems. As we went to leave the neurologist's office after my testing, we were glad to have the clear diagnosis and excited that it didn't take too long, because we were hoping to make it out to the house and talk to Clair and the guys before they quit for the day. We had a good 45 minutes to make it out there, so we were set – or so we thought. We get in the car, and it won't start! Lovely! Nathan
checks some things under the hood, but we weren't really sure if it was the battery or the starter or what. So we called my parents, and they head our way to try and give us a jump. We eventually get the jeep started and took it to Advanced Auto. It turned out to be a bad cell in the battery, which was actually still under warranty, so we didn’t even have to pay for a new one. Needless to say, we didn't make it out to the house in time, but at least we didn't end up having to spend a bunch of money on repairs.
6.) The E.R. That same day, Nathan had a softball game at 9:30. During the game, while Nathan was playing in the right outfield, he made the most.amazing.catch! Seriously, it would have been a highlight on ESPN if we had it on tape. It was a foul ball, and he had to run clear off of the field, practically into the parking lot, and jump 10 feet in the air, while completely stretched out horizontally to catch the ball. It was seriously A.MAZ.ING! After he caught it and was walking back to the field, everyone was cheering and clapping, and I said, "Oh yeah, that's my husband!" Well, a few innings later, he had to run up to try and catch another fly ball. He didn't make it there in time and kind of fell and rolled forward trying to dive for the ball. When he fell he landed on his shoulder. It really didn't look too bad, but after the next pitch he came off the field holding his arm. He tried to sit for awhile and watch the rest of the game, but the pain was pretty bad, and we were afraid he may have broken his collar bone, so we left and went to the emergency room. We waited at the emergency room for 3 hours before they even took an x-ray, and it was another hour or so before we got to see a doctor. The doctor took a quick glance at the x-ray and said that nothing was broken. He told Nathan to ice it and get an MRI done next week if it wasn't feeling better. Nathan went to see an orthopedic doctor on Wednesday, and he said he thinks Nathan separated his shoulder, but luckily nothing appeared to be torn. Nathan is still in some pain, and his softball season may be over, but in the long run he should be OK.
7.) Sunburst. I FINALLY got a new phone. The outer screen on my old one stopped working months ago, but I didn't like any of the new ones, so I just kept on using my half-broken one. Well, the other day the inside screen also stopped working, so I finally had to call it quits. It was one of the older Razors that I had for years – and it was pink. It was a good phone. I ended up getting the Samsung Sunburst. It was free from Sams. Nathan has had the same phone for a few weeks now, and had pretty good luck with it. It has a lot better reception than the Solstice that he had before and had to return. I don't text or twitter or search the Internet, so my requirements for a phone are pretty simple. I wanted something thin that had good reception and basically just made calls. Overall, I don't hate the phone. These are my biggest complaints:
- It beeps and lights up when the battery is fully charged. This may not seem like a big deal, but most of the time I charge my phone at night. So I plug it in, and then an hour or two later once I am sound asleep it makes this loud beeping noise and lights up. Highly annoying.
-You cannot change the background on the screensaver when the phone is locked. Basically it just has a group of random images that it rotates through. You do not get to pick a single image and you cannot delet e any of the images in the rotation. Yes, this is annoying and I think I should be allowed to pick my own screensaver, but more importantly, Nathan and I have the same phone. So if our phones are both locked – which they are the majority of the time unless you are actually using them, they look exactly the same laying on the table. We were able to change the font on Nathan's so at least there is a slight difference.
I have actually emailed Samsung about both of these items, and they confirmed that there is no way to change those features. Other than those things, and the fact that it doesn't come in pink, I am adjusting to the phone. I am thinking about ordering one of the custom skins for my phone. Just so it looks nicer and so we could tell ours apart. Has anyone ever ordered one of those before? Is it just a sticker or does it stay on pretty well?

A recap if you will...
1.) Eye drops. I went to the eye doctor again today. This is the third time in the last week or so, four if you count my original stop at Med Express. Last Friday, my left eye was red and hurting. We had been out meeting with landscapers all day, so I just figured it was allergies. Well, Saturday we went to Columbus to look at garage doors and attend my Cousin Rebekah's graduation party. All day long it just got worse and worse. Still thinking it's allergies, I have Mom stop at Walmart on the way to the party, so I could pick up some Visine Allergy. Big mistake! Usually, when I use Visine it burns a little, but is more of a soothing burn and only lasts a few seconds. As the drop rolled to the lower, left corner of my eye, I wanted to die. It felt like someone was jamming a needle into my eye. After an evening of suffering and grossing out all of my cousin's guests with by bloodshot eyeball, I went straight into Med Express when they opened on Sunday. The doctor said a piece of dirt or something must have gotten in my eye and scratched it. She gave me a prescription drop, and said it should be better within a day or so. The next day, it was not much better, so I made an appointment with the an actual eye doctor. He called it some technical name and gave me another prescription, this one for a steroid drop. Again, he said I should be much better in a couple of days. Couple of days went by, it was better, but still pretty red and painful. I go back. He gives me a stronger steroid. Couple days go by, my eye is getting better. I went back today, just for a check up. He said it is doing much better, but as he is examining me, he discovers I have an eyelash growing on the inside of my eyelid. Apparently, it was growing straight at my eye, which concerned him. He spent some time pulling it, and wants to see me again in three months. If it grows back, he might want to laser it. Let's pray that it doesn't grow back!. So after four co-pays, three different eye drops, and one very cool pair of sunglasses, my eye is irritated, but definitely on the road to recovery!

Another week down....
1.) An actual day off. Today was the first Friday that I had off, where I didn't have 15 house errands to run. I still had a few new house-related items to take care of, but for the most part I got to stay home.
2.) Running. I took advantage of my day off and the nice weather to go for a run. I love running! I ran about 4 miles and then walked a couple. My running buddy comes home from college in three weeks and I can't wait!.
3.) Siding. The wrong siding issue has been taken care of. The correct shaker style is supposed to be delivered next Tuesday.
4.) Columbus. We are making another trip to Columbus tomorrow to hopefully finalize our granite order and pick out the exact slabs they will be using.
5.) Milo. A few people have been asking about Milo, and I'm sad to report he is still missing. I think it is going on a little over 5 weeks since we have seen him, so even optimistic-me is feeling a little down about the situation at this point.

It has been quite awhile since I did a Five on Friday. I guess I got wrapped up in the house updates and forgot about them. I kind of miss having a weekly recap of my daily activities outside of the ones I photograph and share, so I'm going to make an effort to bring them back!
1.) Bad, bad blogger. I know that I have been really bad about keeping the blog updated daily. I tend to pile up on my posts, and them back-date them all in one massive posting. I am going to try and do better about getting them out there every day or so.
2.) Sabic sucks. The local company, Sabic (formally GE), announced formally today that they are going to lay off another 80 employees. This more or less cuts the plant down to nothing and will directly affect some of our immediate family and close friends. So please pray for the employees and their families as they work through this and try to figure out where they go from here.
3.) Milo is missing. He has been gone for almost two weeks now, and we are starting to get worried. We never really intended to have pets in the first place but we, along with my parents, would just like to know that he is OK. People have told us that if a cat is in heat, he can stay gone for up to a month, so we are still holding out hope. He's a tough little guy. The week before he went missing, he brought home two dead mice and a large rabbit - all headless!
4.) We got our income tax all figured out (thanks Mom!) and ready to mail this week. One more item checked off the to-do list!
5.) Speaking of to-do lists... mine is about a mile long. I feel like I am drowning in house decisions. Every night is filled with trips to Home Depot or meeting with flooring people. Nathan and I are both completely exhausted. We need to get some definitely decisions made and items ordered by next week, or I think I'm just going to give up on the whole thing. Cabinets, granite, and flooring - must haves this week!

My week in review...
1.) Today is Friday the 13th. I'm not really superstitious, but I've never really cared for Friday the 13th. Once I had my birthday party on Friday the 13th and it went horribly! Anything that could have gone wrong at an 8-yr-old's sleepover did! So in perspective, this was a pretty good one.
2.) Veteran's day was Wednesday, which gave us an extra day off - definitely made my week go by even faster. Plus it gave Nathan and I an extra weekday to check out house stuff.
3.) Productivity. Mom and I ran lots of errands today, and I am proud to announce I marked several things off of my to-do list!
4.) We got our building permit today. It's pink and laminated, and I like it :)
5.) I got the opportunity to take some Christmas pictures of little Jacob this morning. He was definitely a handful this time and kept me on my toes the entire session, but I think you will agree his cuteness is totally worth it! Here are few of my early favs:

My week...
1.) For the most part this has been another busy week. Not quite as busy as the last two, but still a lot going on with the house stuff.
2.) Our ad for the current house was in the bulletin board this week. They left off the price that we included, so despite the fact that we had several phone call, several of them were simply people asking the price.
3.) I worked in the church nursery on Sunday night. Our small group is on Wednesday nights this year, so I volunteered to help out with the kids of the adult groups that meet on Sundays. I have to admit I was a little bit nervous; I really didn't know what to expect or even how many. I know Evan likes me, but I have doted on him since the day he was born and we have become good buddies. Faithers likes me, but with a title like "Fun Aunt Lori" what choice did she have? I guess just the idea of whether or not I could win over a new kid or possibly multiple new kids had me a little anxious. Well, I'm happy to report it was only me and Baby Andrew, and I think by the end of the night I had convinced him I was alright to hang out with.
4.) Daylight Savings Time. I think I'm pretty well adjusted to the new time. I'm typically a good sleeper, so I will pretty much sleep anytime I can - regardless of what my body is used to. I do have to say that this was the second year in a row that our stupid "smart clocks" have messed us up. Last week I was in the shower getting ready for church, and Nathan came running up the stairs yelling, "They did it to us again! It's 9:30!" We managed to make it to church on time, but I have to say this is getting a little annoying. I really think the clock companies should offer some kind of recall or update.
5.) Flashback Friday. With Halloween being this week, I thought it might be fun to do a little flashback to last year.

Another busy, busy week...
1.) Grandma and Pap sent us a Happy Halloween card. Even at 26 it's just nice to get little suprises from your grandparents. :)
2.) Happy Anniversary to Justin and Heather! My brother and SIL celebrated their 3rd Anniversary on Wednesday. We love having Heather as part of the family, and the two of them just make such a nice couple. If you see them this week, make sure you wish them a Happy Anniversary.
3.) House for Sale. So far the response to the house for sale is going really well. We have had about a half dozen phone calls, we showed it to someone yesterday, and already have a couple of appointments to show it this weekend. We are certainly still a long way from having it sold, but it feels good to know we at least have some interest in this economy.
4.) Avail. Our small group officially has a name - "Avail". Melanie did some research and looked up a bunch of words relating to helping other and service, and all of the things our small group is hoping to stand for. Several times in her search, she came across the word avail and decided it would be the perfect name for our small group, and I have to agree. Plus it sounds better than, "The Young Adults group." Besides it's basic definition, we are using AVAIL to stand for A Volunteer Act in Love. And just since Melanie loves them so much, here is a Thesaurus web bubble with the definition of avail.

1.) Busy, busy! It has been another crazy, busy week for us. Every night this week we had something scheduled. We even had a few appointments on lunch breaks, because our evenings were all booked up. I'm fairly exhausted, but I do feel like we are making progress with this whole building a new house thing.
2.) Swine flu. This thing is just getting ridiculous. It seems like everyone has it or knows someone very close that has it; definitely seems like the schools have an awful lot of it. Good news is that it people 25 and younger are the most susceptible to it. I've never been so happy to be 26, until I heard that. I'm really counting on that extra month of immunity to pull through for me :)
3.) Scrapbooking. It may seem like this week has been a lull in sharing my digital scrapbooking. Although we are super busy with house stuff, I have managed to find some time to scrap here and there. I haven't shared any of my pages yet though, because we are having another digital morph challenge at 2Peas, and we have to keep all of our layouts a secret until the big reveal. You can read about the last digital morph here: Digital Morph v.3, if you are curious and have no idea what I'm talking about. Hopefully I'll be able to share my layouts soon though.
4.) Fall is definitely here. It's been kind of cold this week, and Nathan and I finally broke down and turned on the heater the other day. Despite disliking the cold weather, fall also brings Candy Corn. I love Candy Corn!
5.) And since a post isn't any good without a photo, here is photo I took of Faithers after church on Sunday. Doesn't she look like she is growing up so fast? I can't believe how long her hair looks there. Any time your week needs a little pick-me-up, I recommend a dose of Faithers.

Well another week has come and gone. Every time I have posted a blog entry this month I still enter the date with 2009-09-, apparently I still haven't adjusted to it being October already. I really need to start writing my Five on Friday ideas down, because all week something will happen and I think to myself, "That would be a good Five on Friday entry." And then Friday gets here, and I sit at my keyboard going, "Now what happened this week???" All goes by too fast! Anyways, here's what I do remember...
1.) Justin and Heather have been in Florida all week. They fly home tomorrow. It sounds like they both had a good time, and I know Pap is lovin' his fancy new drive-way and big flat screen TV - both courtesy of J.D. that's what Pap calls Justin, just in case you didn't know
2.) Hornor and Harrison was hosting some kind of WVU ultimate fan competition, and apparently Bryce won! Someone sent in a picture of him all dressed up, face paint and all, and they selected him as the ultimate Mountaineer fan. He won tickets to tomorrow's WVU vs Marshall Game and a whole bunch of goodies from their WVU shop. I haven't seen the actual winning photo, but I had this one in my archives. I think you can see the Mountaineer intensity in his eyes.

My week in review...
1.) This week has flown by! It felt like we were constantly on the go. So needless to say today, I'm pretty exhausted. A fact Nathan pointed out that I have told him about five times in the last hour. I can see with all the house planning stuff, I had better get used to weeks like this. Fun stuff... just lots of it!
2.) My Play is the exultation of the possible layout was selected as one of the digital weekly challenge winners. Woo hoo! Some free shopping coming my way! You can check out the full announcement here
3.) I got my flu shot this week. I'm hoping it helps. They sent out an email at work reminding us how to help prevent the spread of germs and what we can do to try and stay healthy. The email told us to assume that everyone is sick and to practice social distancing. So if someone sneezes in our office, we spray them with Lysol and tell them to go home. So far, I've had to spray myself twice.
4.) Go Team Go. This week my friend Gen "with a G" was hosting a challenge over at 2Peas. She challenged us to create a layout using a black and white background, only black, white or gray elements, but a color photo. At first the whole all black and white idea kind of worried me, but I actually really like how it turned out.

Man this week has just flown by...
1.) Small group picnic. We had the small group picnic on Sunday. Just kind of a church dinner with some fun games to kick off the Fall small groups. Just for anyone who doesn't know, a church small group is basically just what it sounds like. On Sunday or Wednesday nights, we break into small groups to do a fellowship and bible study. It's just kind of a fun way to learn and also get to know some people at the church a little closer in a more intimate atmosphere. By the way, our small group - the young adults - totally kicked butt in the obstacle course race. I will have to try and get my hands on some picutres from that... it was pretty funny!
2.) Mom and I went to Brianna's wedding on Saturday. It was a really pretty ceremony and reception. Patty and Alan rode with us, and Patty is always a ton of fun to be around!
3.) Closing. Our land closing has been postponed. There is some committee that we have to get approval from and they don't meet again until October 7th. So our new closing date is October 9th. Not a big deal to wait another week, just a little disappointing.
4.) Michael. My grandma's nephew Michael and his wife are in town for the weekend visiting. Grandma doesn't speak to her brother, Michael's father, for various reasons and therefore hasn't seen or talked to Michael since he was a very young child. A year or so ago, Michael found out that he had all of these aunts and cousins that he really didn't know much about. He started looking them all up and reconnecting. He scheduled this trip so he could come in and meet us all. He and his wife are so sweet, and it has been a wonderful time getting to know them.
5.) Purse party! Tonight Mom and I went to Debbie's purse party. I found some awesome designer purses at a fraction of the cost. They are fab-u-lous!

Here's my week in review. Todays might actually end up being more than Five on Friday, because I have a lot to talk about. You can just consider the one's past five as bonus - because you know I love all things "bonus"
1.) My friend Shannon called me last night to let me know they were taking her son, Michael, to the children's hospital in Columbus again. Poor little guy has been diagnosed with feveral seizures. Several times he has actually stopped breathing during them, but thankfully this time he did not require a breathing tube. Please just pray that they get his medicine straightened out or that the little guy grows out of them soon!
2.) Taylor Swift and this whole Kanye West mess. For those of you that read my blog often, you know I'm a big Taylor Swift fan. She seems like such a sweet girl, she writes amazing lyrics, and I just overall like her. What Kanye did was ridiculous and would have been hurtful to anyone, but to do it so someone so young and sweet like Taylor is just awful! Some celebrity that they were interviewing said something like, "How could he do that to her - it's like stepping on a puppy!" My thoughts exactly! He apologized and that is all well and good, but to me - he ruined her moment, and that's something she can never get back.
3.) Thug Story. Ok, so I'm still on my Taylor Swift soap box for a moment... If you haven't seen it, you should go over to Taylor's website and see the video she made called Thug Story. It is hilarious! Taylor Swift
4.) This week I turned 26. I'm still getting birthday wishes and cards in the mail. I just want to add one more great-big thank you to all of my friends and family!
5.) Breaking Free. Our women's bible study started back up this week. This time we are doing Beth Moore's book called Breaking Free. If you are looking for a good bible study, I highly recommend Beth Moore's books. I loved the first one, and I'm really excited to get started on this one.
6.) I had lunch with Mandy this week. We just always have such a good time chatting and catching up.
7.) Milo came home a couple days ago with a great big gash in his front, left leg. It was starting to look worse, so we decided to take him to the vet today. They cleaned it all out and gave us some antibiotics for him. He is going to stay with Mom and Dad for awhile, or at least until he heals up some. Poor little guy just gets in too many fights at our house.

1.) I got a chance to take a picture of some of the beautiful flowers that Nathan sent me last week. Aren't they pretty? :)

This has been a pretty awesome week for me:
1.) CT's. I was asked by two other scrapbook designers at 2Peas to be on their Creative Teams and work with their products. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about this!!! You can check out both of their blogs to see more about amazing designs:
Jen Allyson
Mary Ann Wise
2.) The half is here. The half marathon is tomorrow morning. It feels like I have been training for it for quite awhile, and I'm just excited that it is finally here.
3.) Nathan sent me flowers yesterday, and it just brightened up my week. I am working on some pictures of them to share.
4.) Kyla's wedding dress. Kyla called me this morning and asked if I would go wedding dress shopping with her, her mom, and her grandma. It meant a lot that she values my opinion that much, and it is just something fun to do. Kyla looked absolutely gorgeous in about 10 different dresses, so I would say she has some tough decisions ahead of her.
5.) The land. While I was dress shopping with Kyla, Nathan called to say that they accepted our offer on the land! Woo hoo! I was already having a pretty amazing week, and this news just put me over the top! We still have to do all the legal/closing stuff, but if all goes well we will soon be the proud, new owners of 4 acres. :)

My week in review:
1.) The boys won their first softball game in the tournament tonight - woo hoo
2.) Josh and Kyla got engaged!!! Kyla called me from the beach and told me that Josh proposed. Kyla and I have become pretty good friends over the summer and with our running, and I couldn't be happier that she is going to be a permanent member of the family!
3.) Wednesday was Tara's birthday. Happy Birthday Tara! If any of you don't know Tara, she is responsible for bringing the cuteness that is Faithers into this world, so she deserves some celebrating.
4.) Corn, and lots of it. Every year my Grandma Reber gets several dozen ears of corn, takes it off the cob, and freezes it. Today, we all went up to help her. We each had our own little station in the process. Dad says I even added a quality assurance step of removing any stray pieces of silk from the cobs. quality assurance… he cracks me up
5.) Tara called and asked if I wanted to watch Faith tomorrow and take some pictures of her. I am super excited. So watch for some new pics coming very soon…

My week in review...
1.) Bryce. My incredibly talented brother-in-law sang at church on Sunday. Not only did he do an amazing job singing the song, but he wrote the lyrics too! It was seriously an awesome song with a really powerful message. He uploaded a recording of it on Facebook, the sound isn't the greatest, but you can at least hear the song for yourself. I'm sure he and Sam will be on KLove before they know it, but until then you can find them here: Reflection
2.) Lunch with Mandy. I took one of my best friend's, Mandy, out to lunch this week for her birthday. Mandy and I have known each other since we were three years old and always have the best time together. We are thinking of making our lunches together a once-a-month event.
3.) Grandma Reber. My grandma turned 81 this week, and it makes me realize how lucky I am to have such an active grandma. Even at 81 this woman doesn't miss a beat. She runs off to the beach with her friends every chance she gets. She goes to water aerobics. She gets down in the floor and cuts, sews, and quilts with me. I'm seriously so blessed and thankful that I have a fun-lovin', healthy, eighty-one year old grandma!
4.) We are Storytellers. The store where Audrey currently sells her digital scrapbooking kits is closing. {WST} is a great digital community, and I am so sad to hear that they are closing. I really loved that they, and Audrey, focused on the journaling and storytelling side of scrapbooking. I know the store really felt like home for Audrey, and she is currently trying to find a new store / figure out what she wants to do. I love being a part of her Creative Team, and I really hope she can find a new place to call home. If you have some time, please stop over on her website and read her {WST} is have a going out of business sale, so you can pick up anything in the store, including all of Audrey's amazing kits, for 50% off.
1.) Bryce. My incredibly talented brother-in-law sang at church on Sunday. Not only did he do an amazing job singing the song, but he wrote the lyrics too! I have been a really bad blogger this week, but I promise to get back on the stick. Plus, Five on Friday's are a great way for me to recap my week and get caught up on the things I haven't had time to post about. So without further ado…
1.) My Dream that never ends layout won this digital weekly challenge. Looks like I have some shopping to do… you can check out the announcement here if you're interested.
2.) Bones and Pburg. Yes, my obsession with Bones continues. Not only is it an awesome show, but this week they even gave a shout out to little old Parkersburg. Seriously! They were trying to identify a body, and they had determined the man was from Tennessee, Kentucky, or West Virginia. They did some lab work and found that the body had high C8 levels. I thought to myself, "huh, I have high c8 levels…" Then one of them said that C8 is found Teflon, and the other one said, "There's a Teflon plant in Parkersburg, WV." I was pretty excited. I half expected them to cut to a scene where Booth was interviewing my dad at DuPont – that didn't happen, but the whole thing was pretty cool anyways.
3.) Pink Lemonade. This week 2Peas is having a CHA celebration. CHA stands for the Craft and Hobby Association, and twice a year they have a big scrapbooking convention. I've never been, but places like 2Peas and Digital Designers do a lot of fun online activities. One of which was a chat with one of my favorite designers, Carina, who along with Jen Allyson gave away this free Pink Lemonade kit. I'm in the process of making a new layout with it, so check back next week for that.

The highlights from my week:
1.) Bones. I recently started watching the tv show Bones, and I am now officially hooked. It is funny and interesting, plus it's on like 3 or 4 times during an evening so it is very easy to get sucked into watching episode after episode. If you have never seen it, flipit to TNT any week night, and check it out.
2.) Sweets. This is kind of a continuation of #1 and further episode of my new obsession with Bones. There is a character on the show named "Sweets" who has the coolest job ever! He is a behavioral analyst and basically is just really good at reading people. I now want to become a behavioral psychologist, so if you know of any good books or online programs for how to learn this skill, please pass them along...
3.) Home improvement. We got some things done around the house that we have been meaning to get to for awhile now. Nathan and Bryce painted the back of the house, and Dad stopped by to help me with some things inside.
4.) Faithers. I got to see Faith for a little bit tonight for the first time in a week or so. She is so darn funny these days. Her big thing right now is coloring pictures and huddling under a blanket and telling "secrets". Hopefully I can catch a few pictures of both activities, because they are seriously cute.
5.) Sunflower: a series - Part I. A while back a friend from chuch gave me a small sunflower kit. This week Nathan get everything ready and planted it for me. My plan is to take pictures of it as it grows to get some more practice on manual. I plan to call the pictures... Sunflower: a Series (She said all dramatically)

This week has gone by so fast, I can hardly remember five things about it, but we are going to give it a try anyways.
1.) Postcard. I got a postcard from my pea pal, Jodi, yesterday. She's been at Wrightsville Beach, NC for a week or so (lucky bum!). It was a nice little suprise to have in the mail.
2.) Scarlett. My dad is at a Civil War convention in Amish country this week, selling some of his miniature soldiers. I found out the very first one he sold was a Scarlett O'Hara figure that Heather painted! Sounds like Dad has a very talented, new apprentice.
3.) Monday's run. As hard as Monday's run was, it actually really boosted my confidence for being able to finish the half.
4.) Sleeping in. Kyla and I try to get in at least two good runs during the week. This typically happens on Monday nights, with the River City Runners and on Saturday mornings. This weekend Kyla is going shopping in Pittsburgh, so we did our morning run today instead of tomorrow. Which mean I get to sleep in tomorrow morning! I know in theory I really just traded sleeping in today for sleeping in tomorrow, but at this point today is already behind me, and the sleeping in tomorrow is still something I can look forward to :)
5.) Zac Brown band. Tonight's concert at the WV Interstate Fair was with the Zac Brown Band. We sat in traffic FOREVER trying to get there. Over two hours - seriously! And this was supposed to be the one weekend in July that I wasn't cooped up in the car for hours on end traveling somewhere. The concert was pretty good - not worth waiting in traffic for two hours - but a good time regardless.

I've been doing a good bit of photo editing this week, so for today's Five on Friday, I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures from the last week or so.
1.) Faithers and Uncle Nate. I love this picture! Just two of my favorite people having fun together. Don't they both just look so happy...

So you may have noticed a few new things going on with the blog. I thought I would use the Five on Friday this week to highlight a few of them.
Five things I'm lovin' about the new blog...
1.) Multiple photos. I now have the ability to upload more than one photo per blog post.
2.) New, bigger blog header. I figured it was time to update the blog header. Not only is it a more up-to-date photo, but it is a little bit taller and I think it fits the blog style better.
3.) Archives. My brother set up the blog archive system so that just the more recent entries will show up on the home page - this should speed up the loading time when you visit the blog. You can still find all of the old entries sorted by date in the Archives section of the blog.
4.) Categories. At the bottom of each post, you should see a "posted in" section. I'm hoping to get all of the entries categorized that way if someone comes and is only interested in reading the posts about Faith or only wants to see the recipe entries, he/she can open just that category of posts.
5.) Comments. You now have the ability to leave comments! So if you stop by and have something to say about one of the posts, I'd love to hear it. Plus it lets me know that someone actually reads all of my rambling :)

Noteworthy items from my week...
1.) Laptop. My laptop finally came!!! It actually came much sooner than the last updated estimated delivery date that Dell gave me, so either all of my complaining helped or they just don't know what they are doing. I'm still pretty peeved about their customer service, but so far I really like that laptop.
2.) More power to the computer geeks. Last week I talked about how lucky I am to have computer geek friends that stock pile spare parts, and this week they came through for me again. The video card that my friend gave me last week came with an onboard fan, but the fan required its own power adapter. I had an extra power cord in my PC, but it couldn't quite reach to the video card. I looked at some places online, and it was going to cost three times as much as the cord cost to have it shipped to me. Sure enough one of my coworkers said he had an extra one at home that I could have. So now my new video card is hopefully staying cool and happy.
3.) Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcettt both died yesterday. Both were Hollywood icons and it's just so crazy to hear about them both dying so young. Farrah obviously had been sick for awhile battling cancer, but Michael's death was a pretty big shock to everyone. I've watched some of the documentaries they had about him, and I honestly am starting to feel bad for him. Sounds like he had a pretty traumatic childhood.
4.) Time off. Today marks the first of my ten days off from work. Nathan and I took a few vacations days, and I'm really looking forward to relaxing and getting some stuff done around the house.
5.) Audrey has been sharing a ton of new kits this week, and I'm taking full advantage of my new laptop to scrap with them. The layout below is made with her Starry Night kit that is part of her BOGO sale this weekend at We Are Storytellers

My five for the week...
1.) My Uncle John and Aunt Michelle found a house (yay!) They also called to tell us that when they come to visit for a week at the end of May that they will be leaving Evan here and going back to get the house ready. So that means we will have Evan for two whole weeks! (double yay!)
2.) My pea pal Jodi went to a photography workshop last week, and she sent me a post card from Grand Rapids. It's always fun to get a little suprise in the mail.
3.) I think the 3 acre land is now crossed off our list. The power company called back and gave us an estimate on how much it would cost to move a couple of telephone polls that are currently in the middle of the lot, and it was a little bit more than we were hoping for. The guy who is selling the lot isn't willing to lower his asking price, and we aren't willing to pay what he is asking + the cost of the telephone polls, so... I guess that one is a no-go. This really isn't a highlight of the week, but at least now we know. I think I disliked the waiting more than the disappointment of knowing.
4.) The Office (the NBC show that is). For those of you that are fans of the show, you will understand what I mean when I say, "All is right with the world again." For those of you that aren't fans of the show - you should be! Because it is hilarious.
5.) Wes end up having to work a little OT today, which means I get to have Faith all day! I love being around Faith any time that I can, but somehow it is even more special when it is just the two of us all day. We have such a good time. She was really good for me, and even went to the potty for me - which is quite an accomplishment considering I don't even have a little potty chair for her yet.
(pictures to come, I promise)

So here are the highlights from my week:
1.) BPD Photo Club - Our local photo club met yesterday. Jeremy brought his alien bee/octabox and wireless triggers for all of us to try out. It was really cool, and I definitely learned some things about balancing off-camera light w/ ambient. Also, it gave me one more thing to add to my wish list of awesome things that Jeremy has, and I wish that I did.
2.) Birthdays - Wednesday was my BIL's 24th birthday - Happy Birthday Bryce :)
3.) Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup - I tried a new recipe last night for a spicy chicken soup. It was actually very delicious. If you want to give it a try you can find the recipe here. It's definitely one I recommend.
4.) Land of opportunities - Recently we have been looking at different lots to build on or various homes for sale. There is one neighborhood and one 3 acre lot that we are seriously considering. We don't really plan to start building until next year, but there are a lot of details we are trying to figure out now. Both options have a lot of really good points to them, and it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes to think about it all. Here's hoping we get it all figured out...
5.) Regional Social Studies Fair - Tonight Dad and I judged the Regional Social Studies Fair. It's just something fun Dad and I can do together, and it also helps out the local schools.

5 things I like this week:
1. President's Day - you've gotta love paid holidays off!
2. My pea pal's awesome new photo blog! :)
Picture This
3. Slimfast Optima Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bars (don't let the "Slimfast" name throw you - these are seriously awesome)
4. The fact that Taylor Swift sings the song, "You belong with me" and not that Stevie girl from American Idol. I feel bad for her and all, but man did she butcher that song!
5. This picture I recently edited of my niece:
