Rick worked on the walk-in shower today. The Kerdi system comes with these bands that you place in all of the corners to seal them off.

This week they are basically working on the siding and the tile floors. Here's a look at the progress of the siding on the back of the house.

They tiled the top our our whirlpool tub.

Today they delivered our interior doors and trim. We chose a two-panel door with oil-rubbed bronze hinges.
Monday, May 24th, 2010
They started installing the siding on the back of the house. I think we're going to be glad that we decided to do the shaker style over the entire house.

Tonight, we attempted to make a cardboard version of our fireplace mantel. Since our mantel will be custom made by Country Cabinets, we can have it any size or thickness that we want. We are trying to get a good feel for what size will work for the space.

A recap if you will...
1.) Eye drops. I went to the eye doctor again today. This is the third time in the last week or so, four if you count my original stop at Med Express. Last Friday, my left eye was red and hurting. We had been out meeting with landscapers all day, so I just figured it was allergies. Well, Saturday we went to Columbus to look at garage doors and attend my Cousin Rebekah's graduation party. All day long it just got worse and worse. Still thinking it's allergies, I have Mom stop at Walmart on the way to the party, so I could pick up some Visine Allergy. Big mistake! Usually, when I use Visine it burns a little, but is more of a soothing burn and only lasts a few seconds. As the drop rolled to the lower, left corner of my eye, I wanted to die. It felt like someone was jamming a needle into my eye. After an evening of suffering and grossing out all of my cousin's guests with by bloodshot eyeball, I went straight into Med Express when they opened on Sunday. The doctor said a piece of dirt or something must have gotten in my eye and scratched it. She gave me a prescription drop, and said it should be better within a day or so. The next day, it was not much better, so I made an appointment with the an actual eye doctor. He called it some technical name and gave me another prescription, this one for a steroid drop. Again, he said I should be much better in a couple of days. Couple of days went by, it was better, but still pretty red and painful. I go back. He gives me a stronger steroid. Couple days go by, my eye is getting better. I went back today, just for a check up. He said it is doing much better, but as he is examining me, he discovers I have an eyelash growing on the inside of my eyelid. Apparently, it was growing straight at my eye, which concerned him. He spent some time pulling it, and wants to see me again in three months. If it grows back, he might want to laser it. Let's pray that it doesn't grow back!. So after four co-pays, three different eye drops, and one very cool pair of sunglasses, my eye is irritated, but definitely on the road to recovery!

So, we finally ordered our garage doors yesterday. You wouldn't think that garage doors would be that difficult, but it's a really big chunk of the front of our house, so we wanted to get it right. We decided to go with the Walnut color, Sonoma style with 12-window option. Wayne-Dalton doesn't have a good picture of it online, but if you combine a few of these you might get the idea. This is the Sonoma style, but in a lighter color:

We stopped out at Wes and Tara's house tonight to see their new bedroom furniture. While we were there, I, of course, had to get in some quality Faith time. Tara was showing me some beautiful little dresses she got for Faith to take some pictures in this summer. Faith said, "Mommy, I want to put it on and dance in it." Tara told her that dress was not really for playing, but that she could pick another one to dance in. She chose her Snow White dress and cape, and dance in it she did.

Rick put down the tile in our laundry room today.
Tuesday, May 18th, 2010
Rick, our tile guy, came today and started preping all of the rooms for tile. He put backerboard down in the Jack and Jill bathroom.

This week Tiffany released a ton of new two-page templates in her DHD store. These are great if you have several pictures from an event or just a group of images to work with.
I decided to do a layout with some pictures of Faith playing with her chalk. Journaling reads:
Faith loves to draw with chalk! Every time we are outside at Mamaw’s house, it isn’t very long before she is requesting her bucket of chalk. I think she would draw all day if she could. It’s a fun, carefree activity, and a great way to help her learn her colors.

They finished up the hardwood floors. They extend from the family room, through the hallway, and into the dinning room, entryway and office, which you can see here.

I am sick and miserable. I went directly to Med Express after the wedding yesterday, because my throat was killing me. They put me on an antibiotic, and I'm hoping that will help. For today, I am incredibly tired and have a terrible head cold.
Lucky for me, Chuck is on the ball with the wedding photos. He has already shared some on his blog, so head over there and check them out:

Today was Kyle and Katy's wedding. Today was special, not only because Kyle and Katy are our family and close friends, this was my first wedding as the photographer! I have helped with a few other weddings, but this was the first one that I was technically the person responsible for the pictures. It was a long, busy day - but definitely a lot of fun. I could not have done it without Chuck Crookshanks. He has done hundreds of weddings and was gracious enough to come and help me today. He has been such an amazing friend, mentor, and teacher, and I can't thank him enough!!! I probably would have had a serious panic attack if I didn't know that he was going to be there to help me.
I'm totally wiped out from the day, but I wanted to share one image from this amazing day.

They finished the trim on the front columns. I really think they make the front of our house. The yellow construction tape is just holding the trim on until the glue dries.
Thursday, May 13th, 2010
Here is an updated picture of the outside of the house now that they have added the white vinyl to the outside of the columns.

They are still working on the hardwood floors upstairs. They finished our master bedroom.
Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
I finished up this scrapbook page for Evan.
Journaling reads:
Uncle Larry and Cousin Lori took Evan down to Tri-C fields for some batting practice. It was a little windy, but still a good day to play ball.

They are continuing to work on the columns out front. After the wood pieces are in place, they had to add corners.

Clair is continuing to work on the hardwood floors. He has both kids' bedrooms completed.
Monday, May 10th, 2010
They started working on the upper part of our front columns. They tops are tappered from the bottom up, so Kendell's guys have to build them themselves. They start with a wooden frame.

Here is a new picture of the front of the house.
Thursday, May 6th, 2010
They painted our mudroom today. The color is called Cloudy Sunset. The mudroom is the first room we enter from the garage, and I think this will be a nice color to come home to.
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010
They started painting the first coat on the downstairs today. The main body of the house is the same tanish Beach House color as the hallway upstairs.
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010
Here is an updated picture of the outside of the house. We've actually decided that we like the shaker siding so much, that we are going to put it on the back and side of the house as well. Originally, we were going to put the regular traditional siding on the backsides, but we've decided we might regret it later. It is a pricey upgrade, but hopefully one that will be worth it.
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010
They are working to construct the pillars that go on our front porch.
Monday, May 3rd, 2010
They are still working on the outside of the house. It was neat to come home from DC and see so much of the siding and stone complete.

Today is (inter)National Scrapbook Day. They are having chats and prizes and fun all weekend at DHD, so be sure to stop over and join the party.
